"Blasts From the Past" Spin Your Way May 6 by Gayle Lynn Falkenthal, APR Get ready to relive those thrilling radio days of yesteryear when the next edition of the San Diego Press Club Salutes Series honors the greats of San Diego radio history. "Blasts From the Past: San Diego Press Club Salutes Radio Legends" is now set for Sunday, May 6, at 2 p.m. Leading the list is "Happy Hare" Harry Martin, who's ably assisting the organizing committee in turning over a few rocks to find where all these guys have been hiding out. Just kidding about the rocks! Among the list of names floating to the top are Paul Menard, Jack Woods, Jerry G. Bishop, Bill Gordon, Perry Allen, Ernie Meyers, and the Press Club's own Reid Carroll. Also working hard on the committee is Chris Carmichael, self-proclaimed Media Hack and founder/proprietor of the terrific website SDRadio.net, THE source for all the latest news about the San Diego radio market. Plans call for another swell picnic at San Diego State University with great food and drink. The program is sure to be one of a kind as these "golden oldies" entertain the crowd with one wacky story after another, just as they did in their heyday. The Press Club would like to hear from you about your favorite radio stars from the past that deserve to be honored. We ask that the honorees have spent 20 years or more in radio, the majority of their career in San Diego, and that they are no longer working full-time. Email your thoughts to sdpressclub@cox.net
