Judges Needed for High School Write-Off
Want to have an impact on journalists of the future? The San Diego Journalism Education Association is looking for judges for its annual write-off contest Saturday, March 17, at Westview High School in Rancho Penasquitos, 13500 Camino del Sur, San Diego. Judges should plan to arrive about 11:30 a.m. The association provides lunch and a $25 stipend. Organizer Tim Roberts, SDJEA President, says there will be competition in news, opinion, feature and sports categories. Entries are quickly read and, time permitting, judges are asked to provide a few comments provided on the kids' work. The top 10 are then ranked. The entire process takes a two to three hour time commitment. There is also a best newspaper contest that's done earlier in the day at about 9 a.m. If you'd like to participate, e-mail Roberts at Tim.Roberts@SDUHSD.NET or call (760) 753-1121 ext. 5161.
